Exciting news from the automotive sector in Ghent! At Volvo Car Ghent, our valued member and the only remaining car manufacturer in Belgium, preparations are in full swing for the launch of the brand-new production line for the fully electric Volvo EX30. Thanks to a significant investment of €200 million, the state-of-the-art line is ready to be officially commissioned at the end of April.

EX30 production: 30,000 cars and 300 new jobs
This important step means that the first fully electric EX30 models will soon roll off the production line in Ghent, with a planned production of 30,000 cars in 2025. This development is not only crucial to Volvo's electrification strategy, but will also have a positive impact on our regional economy by preserving 6,500 jobs and creating no fewer than 300 new ones.

Local production, employment, and prosperity
At a time when the international automotive sector is facing challenges such as dumping and tariffs, Volvo Car Gent is demonstrating its strong commitment to our region with this investment and the upcoming start of production of the EX30. It emphasizes the importance of innovation and local production for maintaining and growing employment.
